Chamber Presents Plaques to School 'Employees of the Year'

A workshop with custodial/janitorial firm Rite-Way is set for Thursday, Feb. 18th at 1:00 PM.

At the Feb. 8th meeting of the Washington County School Board , Washington County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Ted Everett presented plaques to the three school employees who each won  honors in their position as determined by their peers.

 

   

School Superintendent Sandra Cook and Everett presented plaques to (l-r) School Related Employee of the Year Valerie Hudson, Heather Berry Teacher of the Year and Alicia Clemmons Rookie Teacher of the Year.

 

Other school board action items:

 

* Approved Change Order #2 for the major additions to Vernon Elementary school, which closed out the project. School Board Chair Vann Brock noted that the contracting firm of GAC Construction “Did a
really great job’, keeping within the budget and finishing construction ahead of time.


* Approved Cook’s suggestion that a tech person from the Florida Association of School Superintendents examine the technical level of equipment and staff in all Washington County schools and report his/her  findings to the school board, probably in March.


* Approved maternity leave for Chipley High teacher Jennifer Kincaid


* Accepted the resignation of KMS paraprofessional Heather Oliver.


* Approved additional pay for James Richardson and Lynn Haddock, employees at the bus garages.


* Approved hiring Nicole Seley as a substitute Mathematics Teacher at Vernon High.


* Accepted the resignation of Washington Holmes Technical Center Secretary Leslee Scurlock.


* Accepted the resignation of WHTC Paraprofessional Pearl Smith.


* Approved additional hours for Homebound Teacher Katie Jenkins.
