Karen Schoen, president of the Sunny Hills Civic Association predicted at Thursday night's meeting that Sunny Hills and the surrounding areas will continue to experience major growth over the next 10+ years.

Discussing what is on the horizon for the area in the coming years, Schoen said the gated community of Spring Ridge is projected to have a build out on the 6,000 lots over the next ten years.  The development is planned to have a clubhouse and swimming pool according to Schoen.

Schoen said that entire development will occur within the boundaries of Sunny Hills and other developments are expected on the perimeter of Sunny Hills.

Schoen said the roads in Spring Ridge will be the first phase to be developed and when the roads in Units 12-15 that comprise Spring Rridge are accepted by Washington County the development will become part of the Sunny Hills MSBU.  She estimated the income realized by the MSBU will see an annual increase of $200,000.

Schoen also mentioned the upcoming September elections for the civic association board.

According to Schoen, all slots on the association board are open.  Anyone interested in running for any position may bring their resume to the August meeting, or email it to the shcivicassoc@yahoo.com.

The resumes will be posted in the August Newsletter. We will meet the candidates in August and have the election in September.

Additionally Schoen mentioned the new Panama City Airport which she said is on track and is expected to open in May 2010. She added that Bay County is actively soliciting business and industries to move to the area surrounding the airport. "That will mean many new jobs and a lot of growth headed to Sunny Hills and Washington County" said Schoen.
