Florida Existing Home and Condo Sales for August

Statistics released by the Florida Association of REALTORS® on August sales of existing homes and condominiums indicate that median sales prices overall were down statewide, due at least partly to statewide foreclosures, as well as a more realistic sense of property value on the part of the seller.
Existing home sales in Florida for August 2008 versus August 2007 were down 4% statewide, with median sales prices down 20%, although some areas experienced significant differences. Existing home sales in Fort Myers were up 32%, with median sales prices down 41%, while Miami home sales were up 22% with median sales prices down 30%.
Existing condo sales in Florida for August 2008 were down 6% statewide compare to August 2007, with median prices down 20% statewide. Fort Myers showed existing condo sales up 31% with median prices down 23%, while Tallahassee showed condo sales down 85% with median prices up 19%.
