Looking at this from another angle it is costing the people with legitimate prescriptions more money to get their medications. Doctors have adopted the policy of only giving a 30 day prescription not only for pain meds but also for for anxiety, depression, panic disorder and other "DEA Schedule x" medications. This means that patients end up paying for a doctors visit every 30 days to get a refill in addition to paying for the medication(s).
